And that will be me. His house is between the farmer's market and my
house--easy to just drop a few things off on Saturday mornings.
Feeding people is part of the way I show love. I try not to step on his
toes or be in his face every day and to give him some space, but we are
close and so we are both used to a lot interaction. Husband thinks I'm
ridiculous. When his son moved out, he called him maybe once a month,
often less. Months would go by without word from the boy. We never
even traveled to Baltimore when my stepson lived there for a year and a
half, despite me saying over and over that we should go. Husband said
he was "giving him his space." I seriously doubt whether I could ever
let a month lapse without talking to my sons. I'm just not that kind
of parent, and whether they like it or not, my boys are used to me
being the kind of parent I am.
