I went to a wedding today as the other woman. My cousin Denis, the
minister, was performing the ceremony for a girl I know from the theatre,
and as Robin had to go to Tassie for her sister's 70^th birthday this
weekend, she asked me to go with him.

It was an absolutely beautiful wedding. It was held at a reception place at
a vineyard and as it was a perfect, sunny day, the ceremony was held outside
in the gardens, in front of a beautiful fountain with water lilies in the
pool around it. All of this beauty plus the vines behind it.

I have never seen a happier, more in love couple than these two. As in many
marriages when the people are in their 30's, they have found their true
partner and are blissfully happy. The ceremony was delightful, and at her
request, the bride's bouquet was made up of flowers brought by her wedding
guests. They were asked to line the red carpet and as she came down on her
father's arm, Donna took each flower offered, kissed and thanked the friend
who'd brought it, and added it to her bouquet. The flowers were hugely
varied and made a enormous bouquet, which Donna, a tiny under 5' girl, had a
bit of trouble holding, but it was just beautiful and was a wonderful way to
include her friends in her happiest day.

It was particularly good for me and Denis because, unlike what often happens
to him when he's invited to the wedding that he's officiated in, we both
knew other guests and so were able to have a congenial time. Four of my
friends from the theatre group were there, and another woman who used to do
Calisthenics with my daughters and who I've always got on with was there as
well. Also, Denis knew people from a group of World Vision workmates of
Den's wife Robin. He got on very well with my friends and we had a lot of
laughs.

We got a few 'looks' from people who know Robin and knew I wasn't her, but
the people who know me, knew Denis was my cousin. We've always got on well
together so, if anything, I had more fun with Den than I would have with my
darling husband, as Den has much more to say and kept me entertained.

The reception had all finger foods - beautiful, varied, and obviously
freshly cooked, and when we left a little early because Den has a bad
shoulder that was giving him trouble, they were still bringing out trays of
hot and cold savouries including little cartons of calamari with sweet
chilli sauce.

The best part of it all, was the double shot skinny latte that I had just
before we left. I'm not a drinker, and you can only drink just so much soft
drink, so the coffee hit the spot.

A lovely time was had by all.

Sal
