Everyone is saying all the things I have been thinking about Dee. I now
have Knockers Up to add to my Deeisms that will continue to amuse me and
with each use of one, Dee will come to mind. She'll never be forgotten.
I wasn't fortunate enough to have a close personal relationship with Dee,
but whenever things were bad, I could rely on a quirky, sympathetic response
from her and her name heading a post meant I would immediately read it to
find out what wisdom and fun would spill out.
I find tears falling as I read the heartfelt posts from all of our friends
in the tree. I feel like bursting out with "It's not Fair!" it's not, but
like the other precious members who've died, she won't be forgotten and no
doubt in years to come we'll still bring up things she said or did and laugh
and probably find a tear in our eyes.

That's our Dee. I can also hear her saying, "Ohshitohdear!" Another
Dee-ism that will be with me for life. Even though I knew she was not
well, this news came as such a tremendous shock to me. Then I realized
why--because the way I see Dee, in my mind's eye, as always been the
person who shined out from the inside. She had a physical shell, and
that shell was failing her, but when Dee wrote, it was the mischievous,
funny, full of spunk and piss and vinegar, lively little elf of a
person who came out. Like her favorite drink, Dee was coffee with a
shot of something a tiddly bit more fun. That's the only way I ever
pictured her, and I think that's the only way my pee-pickin' brain is
going to ever think of her. The super bowl is coming up and Dee is
working on some special dish for it, just like always.
