Gone are the days when a man, right out of school, would take a job, and
then work his way up the corporate ladder in that company, for the rest of his
working life. The workers no longer have that loyalty, because the businesses
no longer have a loyalty to long time employees. They stay a long time, and
cost more money than does a newbie, so . .out with the old, and in with the
younger and cheaper.
A friend was fired after twelve years, and a younger worker hired. But, the
younger worker could not do it all, and so they had to hire a second younger
worker. Guess what, the older one, my friend, was doing a two-person job for
less than what they are paying two people who still cannot get it all done.
Good luck in your move. There is no crime, these days, in holding onto a job
that is no longer fun or secure.
