TheBanyanTree: TLC....ehh

I had to take several classes to be trained and certified in First Aid,
CPR and NCI for my job. Which was great. I feel a lot more confident at
work and the bonus is that those same skills can be generalized to
everyday life, at home even.

I don't think my family necessarily sees the results of the classes as a
good thing, though.

It used to be, before the classes, that if someone in the family seemed
to be choking I would ask them if they needed help and keep a close eye
on them, with soothing sounds of comfort, Kleenexes and maybe a drink if
needed. And of course all that TLC was appreciated and expected as their
due.

Now, well I have a different attitude. Since I now know what signs to
look for that would make actual choking evident I glance over, remark
that I can see they are indeed breathing since they are coughing like
crazy and aren't actually choking, but oh yeah, I hope it passes quickly.

But it's probably the shrug that really gets to them. <g>
