TheBanyanTree: Dishwasher

Awhile back, the spouse was complaining about the brown spots on our white
dishes. I explained that the vinyl covering on the racks in the dishwasher
was wearing off and the steel wire underneath was rusting and staining the
dishes. "But it's brand new!" he said. Yeah, it was brand new in 1997.
<rolling eyes> I checked to see how much new racks were... $150!! And that
was for the "we don't carry stuff that old, here's the substitute part" part
Sheesh... we only paid $399 for the whole dang dishwasher. That's when he
decided the brown spots didn't bother him that much.

After that the racks continued to deteriorate. A week ago or so, one of the
tines finally broke off. I didn't say anything, the rest of the dishwasher
seemed to still be working fine. Except for the broken panel on the bottom
that keeps falling off. And the soap dispenser that hasn't dispensed soap
for about 5 years (I just dump it in the bottom). And the heat dry cycle you
can't use without emitting toxic fumes into the house. <ahem> Well, you get
the picture.

ANYway. We were at Sears a few days ago, and the spouse and the boys were
ogling the flat screen plasma TVs, which bores me to tears, so I crossed the
aisle and ogled the dishwashers. :) By some miracle, I found The One I
wanted. I had looked before, and everything they had was crap. I told the
spouse they had The One I wanted, and without blinking he said, "Well, let's
get it." I didn't argue!!

So I am now the proud (as of tomorrow at 10:30am) owner of a super-dooper,
heavy-duty, double-insulated, mega-quiet, turbo-charged, stainless-steel
lined, food-grinding, pulse-blasting, no-rust nylon-rack, wonder-washer!

WooHOO!

:)
