A Strange, Wonderful Dream

Something strange happened to me recently. It was strange on two
parts. The first was that I had a dream. I generally don’t dream, or
at least can’t remember what my dreams are about. The second part was
that it was somewhat spiritual in nature. If you know me at all, you
know I don’t put much stock in God or religion. This dream was so
amazing that I can’t seem to get it out of my head. I’m hoping that
getting it down in writing will alleviate the daily flashbacks to it.
The dream began with me being aware of nothing but myself, not
physically; simply what makes me who I am. I suppose you might say my
soul, although I am cautious at using a word with so many religious
connotations. I slowly became aware of something else. The world
seemed to unfold around me, below me, and above me. I could see, or
more accurately, feel, all the life on the planet. Energy emanated
out of every living person, animal, plant, and even the planet. All
of these white, wispy tendrils of energy danced around, connecting and
interacting. It seemed as if all life, or the energy of life, was
connected in a confusing yet logical network. A strange feeling came
over me. A feeling of peace, contentment, and belonging. I have
never felt so relaxed and happy in my entire life.
As I tried to focus in on this network of energy, my mind was pulled
away. Instead of seeing things in more detail, I saw things more as a
whole. The energy of all the life on this beautiful planet we call
Earth melded and rose into space. There, it combined with the energy
of our moon, the gleaming sun, and the unique energy signatures of the
planets of the solar system. Everything was alive. The entire
universe seemed to dance with the energy of life in an entire spectrum
of amazing and wonderful colors. The feelings of unity and peace grew
ever stronger.
I began to sense other beings floating in this universe. They seemed
to exist off of this energy while being part of it. They struck me as
being wonderfully evolved beings who simply watched over all life in
the universe. They seemed to care about all life, while simply being
observers of it. A part of me felt connected directly to them
suddenly. Awe came over me as these creatures turned to look at me.
I expected to be measured, weighed, and found to be lacking. Instead
of judgment, I found acceptance. I felt an invitation, to join and be
a part of what they were. I trembled. How could I be part of
something so great, advanced, and enlightened?
A revelation seemed to come to me from nowhere, yet I knew it was
given to me. I already was part of them, in a sense. They were made
of the energy of life, and I was part of that energy. I was also
given a path to follow. As my life progressed, my life energy would
advance and evolve. When my physical body died, my energy would not.
It would simply meld with other energies and find a form that fit the
stage of evolution that it had grown to become. My physical memories
would not live on, but the lessons I had learned about respecting life
and what was right and good would continue.
I was filled again with a strange peace and contentment. Now though,
this was accompanied by a feeling of pure intense joy. I can’t really
explain it, but it is a feeling I will never forget. My dream ended,
and I slowly woke up to reality. This dream has been stuck in my head
for weeks now, and I don’t know exactly what to do with it. At least
remembering the dream will bring with it a memory of the joy and peace
that I experienced for that short time. Too bad it was just a dream.
