Doing OK; was on the Hurricane Rideout Crew for the refinery, but at
the last minute, they decided to leave all the servers up and send me
out, so it's been fun all this week trying to get the network and
servers back up when they hard-crashed when the UPSs finally gave up
the ghost.
Only got one tree on the house this time-- no major damage outside the
roof; the company has been wonderful-- they're sending a tree crew to
remove the tree and a carpenter crew to patch the roof until my
insurance company can pick up the bag. They've rented a cruise ship
to house all the displaced workers working on starting up the refinery
again-- seems that everyone wants gasoline, and there's none to be had
here in the disaster area-- those who have it have no power to pump
it. Orange county WAS heavily forested and trees have taken out 40%
of the power grid-- my estimate... my 3 hectares of forest is now a
heavy mat of broken trees up to a meter in diameter all laced together
and the leaves are starting to turn brown--fire disaster in the
waiting, so we're trying to clear a fire lane around the house first
and then we'll move the dozer up here to start clearing and burning
over the winter as rains permit. I only have my little Kuboda
front-end loader, but it's enough to move most of it if we cut it up
into short pieces.
Hugs,
Dale
