It was time to let him be at peace and out of pain. The medications could no 
longer help keep the pain under control. Our vet said it would be the 
loving thing to do.

It's hard though, because it hurts SO very much.

Dr. Larry compassionately offered to come to our house last night. 
He, Jim & I took Banyan out into the backyard, which he loves. 
We fed him his favorite chicken and loved on 
him while he slipped away into sleep.

I wrote this over a year ago....

Huge black paws strongly striding forth
Head held high with an alert pride
Nose twitching as scents assail
Elegant body moving with grace
Obediently walking by my side
Quiet moments of Banyan time
