TheBanyanTree: Jail Bird: The All Important Clarification

I have had such support from everyone regarding my son's incarceration,
as it were, it really does bolster the spirits.
You may have noticed over the years, assuming you've been around the
same years I have but if not, assuming you've read anything I previously
wrote, I often write only brief pieces. I write with brevity for
impact; fewer words have the same affect, I think, as a whisper in a
crowd. I find it challenging to convey what I was feeling or
experiencing with as few words as possible, hopefully seeming as well
chosen to you as to me.
My son's time in jail is weekend time, five weekends that begin on
Friday at 6:00pm and end on Sunday at 6:00pm. Although he has done two
of them before this weekend, I didn't have the privilege (?) of taking
him to those appointments. I will live, he will live and hopefully
learn from his experience. I am very skeptical of the idea of weekend
jail but then I'm a novice. Not being one from the seedy underworld of
crime I have a very bland notion of the whole process and don't know
quite what to make of it. If I ever *do* know what to make of it,
you'll probably find out what it is. For now it is just absurd to me.
I left out the things that struck me as funny such as the number of
wives dropping off husbands and my out loud musing as to how I could get
on that band wagon. What...? You didn't clean out the litter box...?
WEEKEND JAIL!!! I bet my husband would never do that again. One couple
was very well dressed and had a fancy car and as they kissed good-bye I
did a voice over of what they might have been saying...
"Bye, Honey, see you after my weekend in jail."
"Ok, Sweetie, just don't make any friends."
"I won't and I'll try not to muss my khaki's."
"Yeah, well if you do, you get another weekend in jail!"
I assure you all that had it been for a longer time I'd have sought
something bigger than a chicken to eat in Sam's parking lot.
Love to all,
Maria
