now look you out from on the shore
or gaze upon the lake
but ne'er the likes of Finn you'll see
or a trace of Finnegan's wake

for he rows his boat up in the sky
across the Milky Way
at dusk he westward pulls his oars
when the first star is awake

and he pulls night's curtain 'oer the sky
in the greatest sea above
and the stars awake and the spindrift shines
in the heavens full of love

so go you down upon the shore
or swim out in the lake
and count the starfish in the sky
ashine in Finnegan's wake.
