			blade haiku

		first mile's for balance,
till the fear of falling fades,
		and gliding is smooth

		as the long, paved trail
	through woods, quarries, rushing creek--
		push glide push glide, fly

		as fast as I dare,
	hair a whipping, sunbleached flag--
		this nation of one

		(fiercely bordered but
	open to diplomacy
		with countries like you)

		such images come--
	sliding tangents--while on blades,
		free to glide and think.
