TheBanyanTree: hornet train

there's a bee in the bow
a groan in the boards
a long slow draw
of a mile or more.
the dopplered sizzle
of a hornet train harsh
from the black hole in
lacquered woods, in
the very varnish a
vibration amber-trapped.
strings are tendons stretched
and pressed to yield
tender agonies.

the bow blurs, bucks, bows.
bounces, skitters, skirls
and scatters wails and
caterwauls, or a long sweet
draw, pulling honey through
the moon's eye and sticky
in the grain and veins of
barn boards and buckdancers.
a thready pulse returns
to the dead; they dance
beyond the firelight,
darkly.
