A small box was waiting for her the following week. Pastel colored paper
with dancing butterflies gave evidence that he had paid attention to her
interests and preferences, even in such small ways. When she opened the
box she was intrigued to find a set of three long silver chains, joined
together in a pattern she couldn't quite fathom. And the small silver
lock was a complete puzzle, especially since it was taped open as if for
a specific reason. The accompanying letter made everything clear. If she
held the chains up, they would form a belt of sorts, with one small
addition. One of the chains was to slide up between her legs, dangling
down far enough to keep it from riding too high, but snug enough so that
when she sat down it would pull taunt. The open lock was to be closed
around the ends of the other two chains that formed the belt, locking it
in place around her waist, to ensure that she wore it at all times. He
explained that only he had the key, and only he would determine when or
if it was to be unlocked. He also told her to email him each day and
describe in intimate detail, exactly how it felt to wear his chain.
She wrote and told him how cold it felt when she first slipped it on,
but that it quickly warmed against her skin....and how it tickled her
thighs when she walked. She wanted him to know that sometimes it got
tangled and she would have to carefully walk to a rest room or other
private place, so she could untangle it to stop the tugging pain. And
how it was an ever-present reminder of him, when she showered and took
special care to soap it up and rinse it off, and when she slept at night
it rubbed between her thighs. She teased him with the graphic
description of how much she liked it and why. It was suggestive of
things she had only ever read about. And wasn't quite....... sure about.
Was it only in playfulness or was there more behind it? Symbolism can be
so subjective. Was she submitting to more than she realized? She
shivered as she wondered.......
He sent her teasing inquisitive email asking her if she was enjoying the
subtle presence of his chain......and to anticipate the time he would
use the key to open the lock.
