rooster cogburn's good eye
wobbles, a blue egg on egg
white china and foreign,
a found object embedded
in a craggy planetoid,
the orbit eccentric about
the axis of the eye. his head
turns and the eye hoves into
view, a marble on the moon;
offset, rolled and staring,
the lights of a prone horse
on the last meadow. the orb
coins its own light within;
the camera orbits the axis
of the eye, winking under
the leathered patch strap
of his guttered left light.
