Late Autumn Morning

Tinkling of water in the fountain magnifies the quiet
windows shut tightly like eyes bracing for 
winter's certain slam,
the road is always quiet, so the show
is the sun, a blasting beacon 
through hundreds of trees standing naked but for a few 
clingers like hangnails catching every little bit of breeze,
their long shadows deep dark as they stretch across the house.
