A cousin of Robin's and his wife were evacuated from a Brisbane suburb
on Wednesday, the house is now underwater. However, my 'finely-tuned
susceptibilities' as you put them were awakened by the fact that many
people in the US and other countries have relatives in Oz and vice versa
and in my opinion enquiries like Tom's deserve a rational and
responsible answer. If that is being po-faced, well so be it. Also the
plague of politicians as you put it was in fact three people - the
Premier of Queensland, Anne Bligh, who rose to the occasion
magnificently, the Prime Minister of Oz who was less than magnificent
but worth having representative of the support the feds are providing,
and the federal opposition leader, Tony Abbott, whose asinine and
thoughtless comments hindered rather than helped - he should have stayed
at home.
