Update:

As I sat here this afternoon, squinting at the screen 6 inches in front of my 
face, I had a brain flash - I "saw" a pair of glasses in my nightstand drawer.  
I went to investigate, and sure enough, it was my last set of frames, 
including lenses!  They are at least two prescriptions old, and one ear piece 
is stuck on with superglue and duct tape, but at least I can use them without 
getting a headache!

I think I'll be ok, now.
