If this were NOT your birthday,
but my birthday instead,

Something kinda funny
about me being old
the words would make me happy
(though the humor leaves me cold).

If this were NOT your birthday
you'd write me something sweet
about how great a friend can be
and how you think I'm neat.

But Monkey boy - here's the thing
It's NOT my special day.
Today's the day that YOU were born
i wish there was some way....

Some way to say "You're the best -
You mean so much to me"
And let you know how life would dim
without you in our tree.

I'd like to pour some golden ale
And say "Here's to you!"
But it's too far to clink a glass.
These words will have to do.
