TheBanyanTree: Argh... but it feels so good when you stop.

I've been going to the gym two or three times a week now for over a month. The first
couple of times, I felt terrible after I got done. My muscles trembled, my stomach hurt, and
my head throbbed. I wondered why in the world anyone would be stupid enough to do that
to themselves on purpose. If I wanted to feel this bad, I'd smoke cigarrettes. The two times
I smoked one, that's how I felt, so I quit doing it.

But no, everyone said, keep going, you'll start feeling better. (I'm sure the 'cool' kids tell
their friends that about ciggies, too.) So I kept going, and much to my surprise, I did start
feeling better. In fact, last week, I felt GREAT after going to the gym. My body was tired
but not trembling, my stomach didn't hurt (discounting the abs complaining about the
crunches), and my head felt clear and engaged. WooHoo!

Then I skipped a visit. I went Wednesday, but missed my Friday/Saturday visit. So today,
I'm right back at the beginning. My head is pounding, my stomach hurts, and all my
muscles are trembling. It would be ever so much easier to just sit here and eat the rest of
the leftover Hallowe'en candy, dont' you think? I'm sure the chocolate would give me the
same endorphin rush, better even, without the sick pounding tremblies. Yep, I can
rationalize anything.

But don't worry, I won't. Back to the gym on Wednesday for my sick fix. It will get better -
at least that's what they keep telling me.

Now I hope you'll excuse me while I "hydrate"...
