TheBanyanTree: Brutal Cold

Today is a beautiful, clear, sunshiny day in Asheville. I was listening to the radio while driving home around noon, when the weatherman came on to tell me that it is brutally cold outside today. The high temperature is expected to reach only 31 degrees.

Yes, folks, that's in degrees Fahrenheit, one tick cooler than the freezing temperature of water. Brutally cold. One wonders if our radio weatherman has ever been any farther north than say Buncombe County.

As a former resident of Chicago, and a long time snow shoveler in Colorado, I would say 30 degrees is shirtsleeve weather. I therefore propose that radio weathermen be required to spend at least one winter in Minnesota before they are allowed to speak on the air.

Later, John.
