I'm going to brag here. If you don't like bragging, delete now.
It's just a bit after 9:00pm, and the temp is only 79° F here! The breeze is
cool, and just strong enough to keep the bugs off. The hummingbirds were
out fighting over possession of the feeder. The neighbors had their little
ones out playing in the cool breeze. The forcast is for 62°F tonight. If the
humidity isn't too bad, we may actually be able to open the windows and air
the house out. Heaven!
I feel I have the right to brag, because we, like Maria, have had nothing but
terrible hot weather the last few weeks. Fortunately, fall is coming. We're
getting baby cold fronts passing through that lower the temperatures just
enough to make it livable. This week looks like low 90s, still hot but a giant
improvement over the low 100s we've been having the last two weeks.
It may be dog bath time again! I can't bathe the dogs when it's too hot
because the water coming from the hose is hot (my tap faces due west with
no cover or shade, and the hose is a black rubber hose. I swear sometimes
the water in that hose boils), and the force dryer pulls the air over the motor
to warm it. That's great in the winter, but *way* too hot to be blowing on the
poor dogs when the ambient temp is already almost 100.
I love fall. I know we still have a few more weeks of misery to suffer
through, but these rare cool evenings keep my spirits up, and remind me
that better days are coming soon!
