TheBanyanTree: Money - Two

I've been known to say, "Just let someone try to steal my identity - as
if that's going to do them any good."

It doesn't matter though. My financial identity is not exactly the best
around. Nevertheless, there is money in my checking account. It's time
to pay rent tomorrow, and it's pretty much all there.

Correction: It was all there.

Someone in Taiwan has been having a blast today with my bank card.

That's MY MONEY.

My bank called me, noticing there was strange activity on my account -
and when I checked the transactions, it certainly didn't sound like me .
. . $159.35 at a department store, seven times. Four of them were
declined. Three were not. And they kept coming.

MY MONEY. Not theirs.

Last night, after Andrew and I had dinner downtown, we returned to his
car to find it had been broken into. His mp3 player was gone, the
baseball equipment in the trunk that he was returning to a friend today,
and it had been rather thoroughly tossed to find anything else of value.
They hadn't found his checkbook. My check card wasn't even there - it
was with me. Coincidence. Bad enough that happening, now this?

I thought my identity was safe because who would want it? Maybe the
identity they don't want, but someone, somehow, got my bank card info,
and they're determined to make the best of it.

That's my money, and I don't want anyone else spending it. There's
barely enough there for me, certainly not enough to share. I don't think
they CARE.

I'm going to the bank to get out the money I can get out, while there's
time. The bank recommended I do so.

Damn.
