I grew up on a farm where rising "with the sun" was the norm and I still am a "morning person."  Like Nancy said, I enjoy the cool and freshness of the morning and learned on the farm that if was best to get things done before the heat of the day sapped your energy.
 
Now that I work in the "artificial" (air conditioned) environment of an office this no longer hold true but yet I still feel more productive in the morning.
