TheBanyanTree: Living

Mornings, at first light. It's still cool then, and quiet of all but the
birds. I use no alarm clock, but wake when the night first fades outside my
window. Fortunately, my dogs are always ready for a walk, so we wade through the dew
together, and they tell me all about the night visitors; the raccoons, the
'possums. Tails wag at varying tempos to tell the story.

Some mornings, our tracks are the first on the beach. If I'm very very lucky,
ther might be the big, clawing tracks of some giant sea turtle. This is the
season when they lumber ashore in the wee hours to dig in the sand and deposit
their hundred eggs. I'm out on the beach so early, even the seagulls still
doze in herringbone formation on the sand.

I do my yard work early, love a morning garden. By breakfast time, at nine
o'clock or so, I've already done half a day's work.
