DREAMS


Gossamer threads
Of silver and gold.
Words left unsaid,
Stories untold.


I left all behind,
Climbing ahead.
Forgetting my dreams,
Chose real life instead.


And now I am old
I realize my loss.
I lost all that I was.
Oh!  What a cost.

For the dreams that I dreamed
Were my heart and my soul.
Without them I'm empty.
I'm half and not whole.
