Shannon,
(a song to my daughter)

Has it really been that long
Since we met?

It seems like only yesterday.
I know*.mothers always say that.
Now don't get impatient!
I really mean it.

You were tiny then
New, at the height
Of innocence.

Where did the time go?
How ever did you grow
So dear
And near,
So straight,
So tall?

You were tiny then.
I know, I've said it again,
But what can I do
I had to see that shoe.

A little dingy now,
Lying in a box.
It hadn't been touched
Or worn
In such a long time.

And yet...

Has it really been that long
Since we met?

You were tiny then.
I know, I've said it again,
But please understand,
You were tiny then
And now you've grown.
