Hey all, I haven't written poetry in a while! Cut me a little slack here!
:-) I'm rusty.

Texas in the Spring
The bluebonnets beside the road
Vie with Indian paint and crimson clover.
Primroses crowd on every verge,
Lawns grow dandelions all over.
The mockingbird and scissortail
Announce their arrival with happy song.
When redbirds cry "chigger, chigger"
We know those pests will soon be along.
The irises beside my walk
Proudly dress in purple, yellow, and pink
I transplant jewels of garden flowers,
Seedling flats grow beside the sink.
Thunderheads building in the sky
Promise stormy winds, lightning, hail and rain
Pray tornados will pass you by
When you visit Texas in the spring.
