The Holiness of Trees

falling home backwards into october's moon
she lay blinded, aware for once that time's
passage is more sacred that the holiness of trees
catching her, the moon cradled her remains
gently cursing the night with her beauty.

no one saw her swallow the sea none came
home as savior as her lungs gave in to pressure
the living moonlight swept her upwards and carried
her forth as the goddess she had long prayed to
giving her spirit the life force humanity's limits denied

fly upon the moon lady, give your light no shadow
be the woman of dreams and moonlight be free
shine your inward light out to me with power
retreat no more into the shattered shell of your body
sea and moon have taken and given life, goddess

take flight and fall home always into october's moon
lay blind no longer, now aware of all and the truth that
time's passage is more sacred that the holiness of trees
you are pain no more for the moon cradles your remains
and gently curses each night with your beauty.
