	a lovely bird, the Phalarope
	but something of a misanthrope
	if approached upon the beach
	it quickly flies far out of reach
	my glimpses have been fast and fleet
	of phalaropes in full retreat.

	now I'm a pal to every wren,
	a rabid fan of all mudhens
	I bond with geese in nothing flat,
	eagles and I, well, we're like THAT
	but I guess I've given up all hope
	of ever befriending a phalarope.
