You shouldn't have to have "guts" to say you don't enjoy certain kinds of
humor. I can't see how it makes any difference what type of humor a person
enjoys. I don't like the Three Stooges, or any of the ever so
popular embarrassment movies like "The Hangover", or anything with Jack
Black, or Adam Sandler, or Russell Brand. I don't even like Jerry Lewis and
Dean Martin because Dean is always being cruel to Jerry. I don't think
watching people be humiliated or hurt is funny at all.
That being said, I am a huge fan of Monty Python. The Black Knight scene is
a classic because it IS so over the top. They're poking fun at that type of
humor. But if you don't think it's funny, that's ok, too. You don't have to
be afraid to say so.
Heck, my husband loves the Three Stooges, while I prefer the dry, biting
wit of shows like Black Books, or The IT Crowd. He also likes most of the
BBC black humor like I do. But it's ok that I don't 'get' the Stooges, and
he doesn't 'get' The IT Crowd.
