Cooling spell:
noon less than ninety
with afternoon rains
coming off the inland swamps.
 
First robin appears,
snowbirds of the season
and cardinals twit in scarlet flock
among the misty mangroves.
 
Jetstream shifts
and brings a northern breeze.
Bring out the sweater
it'll be fifty tomorrow
 
But then back to the eighties
and Summer fights on
after all
there's one more month
of the hurricane season.
