Honestly?  I would have preferred the nice soft manure than the hard surface of the road and the nasty grit that I picked out for days from my face...still saying ouch!!  :)

Sorry, Nancy, but this made me laugh out loud.  I narrowly missed doing 
the same thing, only I tripped over the threshold of the stable door.  I got 
my hands under me just enough to avoid getting my face in the manure.  
My shirt was a total loss, however. :)
