October here, pumpkins galore
gold and orange, what a sight
cornfield maze and so much more.
Little kids in costumes bright

Summer sun, lingers hot
hammock naps hear him snore
beach and sand, cool are not.
Hurricane rages just offshore

Watch the radar, see it spin
the season's last is always worst
Cuba, Keys, cringe within
will our luck last, or be cursed?

Meanwhile Summer stays right here
warm and sunny all month long
lunch on the deck, cheese and beer
as Summer birds sing their song.

T'will not cool until Thanksgiving
and even then the sun will shine
'Caines are gone, none are living
seas are calm, the weather's fine.

Winter, if it come at all
will be one day in early Jan
a little frost, no snow will fall
might have to turn off the fan.
