It's obviously not written by one of us, but it serves its purpose, I
suppose. Obituaries are so hard to write. I don't want to do any myself, but
when someone dies I'm happy to do. Not happy. I mean, if someone were to
need one, it would not be a happy occasion, so of course I wouldn't want to
do it because it would mean the person was dead. And I would rather the
person would not be dead. I've started obituaries, several times, before the
person in question was actually deceased, when people said, "Better start on
that obituary," but I can't write an obituary when the person is alive, on
their way out the door (or portal, or what have you) but still a part of
this world. I can't do it until they're gone, and then I labor over it, not
wanting to do it wrong, or miss someone, or miss anything at all, because
it's the last word I have on the subject, and if I don't get it right, I
won't be able to change it. Well, I can, but it's rude to send everyone
amended and corrected obituaries after the person in question has been laid
to rest or let loose on the waves.
But I could think of lots of things about Dee that weren't included.
