And Time Goes By
When people meet, not knowing anything about each other
Every once in a while something magical somehow happens
So many things are discovered that are of mutual interest
Small things done together begin to create memories
And time goes by.
Soon many secrets are shared opening windows to the soul
Laughter and tears are also shared opening doorways to the heart
Time spent lingering over a meal becomes a treasured ritual
Walking along familiar paths becomes a special time of sharing
And time goes by.
Favors are done for each other, never expected but freely offered
Small tokens of friendship become given - and accepted
The bond of closeness grows and is nurtured by small things
The friendship that grows becomes a treasure each holds dear
And time goes by.
Time shared becomes something to eagerly look forward to
New activities are thought of and old ones happily revisited
A level of comfort slowly grows - one of gentle appreciation
Quiet times and mutual acceptance build trust and respect
And Time goes by.
Friendships are never planned to develop in any given way
They can start with a smile or a simple friendly word of greeting
No one knows what will happen next but rich bonds develop
There are many kinds of love and it slowly grows stronger
And time goes by.
Many people may not understand how such bonds can grow
Some sit in judgment saying that such friendship should not be
Others look on the friends and see the respect and comfort
It doesn't make any difference though - because it isn't for others
And time goes by.

Take things one day at a time
IF that is too much go 1 hour at a time
If that is too much, go 1 minute at a time
Miracles come one minute at a time.
