TheBanyanTree: This is a Seal I Wish I Could Club

So the pipes were frozen when I got home--no big surprise.

I opened up the root celler to give it some air.

I rubbed the pipes a bit to warm 'em up.

I walked over to the sink.

I start hearing water.

In the wrong place.

"Oh shit, the pipes" I think!

But oh no, it's not the pipes.

It's the seal on my water meter.

D'oh!

Now I can try to be handy on a lot of things, but I am not messing with
water company property. So about 20 minutes of hold later, I'm on the list
of people to get fixed on this, the coldest night in Pittsburgh in about 15
years.

They told me maybe tonight, but I am betting on tomorrow. Either way, I was
having people over and that's totally not happening now. I'll live with
that, because the alternative--a plumber on weekend holiday time--is not
something I want to consider.

Oh, and if you smell something on the South Hills of town, that's probably
us. ;)
