TheBanyanTree: Odd thoughts...

For Christmas this year, the family got lice. The 15 month old grandbaby had it worst (I managed to remain unscathed!) but we figured she got it from a visit to Santa Clause. Sigh, not exactly a favorite Christmas present.
We’ve spent the days since scrubbing heads of all five family members, combing them with fine tooth combs. And then, of course, stripping bedding, and bankies, and stuffies, and anything else and keeping the washer and dryer busy, busy, busy.
I stripped my bed first, even though I didn’t have any critters, and got all the bedding washed. But, I've been trying to get everyone’s done, so haven’t re-made my bed. It was easier to just grab a clean pillow, pillowcase, quilt and tuck in on the sofa in my sitting room. (It’s kept latched from the outside, so the baby hasn’t been in there!)
Since I’ve been sleeping in the sitting room, and since it has the best TV, I’ve been watching DVD’s the past several nights. First was “My Life in Ruins” – a Nia Vardolos and Richard Dreyfuss flick. I loved it. So far, I’ve loved everything I’ve seen Nia Vardolos in. This one was a gift Bob sent to me for Christmas. Yesterday, I watched “Mrs. Henderson Presents.” Dame Judi Dench is always wonderful to me. Tonight I chose the 1993 (or 1994) Barbra Streisand New Year's Concert DVD.
Streisand is another who is always wonderful to me. While watching the concert, and listening to her beautiful voice, it occurred to me what these three movies have in common, and what I love about these women: It is their passion! It's not just passion in the sexual sense, although that, I’m sure, is there as well. It is their passion for life, for learning, for being real, for living every day of life. I love this about them… And I love the times I feel in touch with mine.
