Monique, I just returned from across state and two
days of the visitation and funeral for my brother,
three years my junior. He was 61. When we were
young, it was just the two of us for 10 years before a
second marriage and more brothers, five to be
specific, joined us. It was an amazing two days,
meeting family I'd never met before and them meeting
me. Since my brother's life was intimately, daily
entertwined with theres they were in a very different
state of grief than I since I saw him and communicated
not even once a year. Even tho the situation left me
feeling 90% full of warmth and joy and feeling much
compassion for those he left and 10% my own wave of
occassional sadness, I'm raw. That even isn't the
right word, exposed isn't the right word. And it's
difficult to get to my point without a right word, but
here goes. When I opened your story about your
haircut there was nothing between me your words. It
was as if your humor lifted me up and tossed me
laughing into the air and as soon as I softly landed,
you tossed me again. I just love your style and have
to assume I would love you also. You have a gift that
I so appreciate and whenever I see a writing from you
I can't wait to read it. You never know who will be
reading your words and how they will receive them. I
want you to know that today, your words brought one
woman (and I suspect many other men and women) a good
laugh and an appreciation of you and your willingness
to share your gift. Sherry
