An addendum to that lesson would be:
Always compare your measuring devices before you start a project.
The last two drawers I did were not actually drawers - they were the snap in panels in front 
of the sink.  Just to make it pretty, not functional at all.  Because of that, there were brackets 
on them, so I couldn't use the same yardstick I had been using.  I got a shorter ruler to use.  
After marking the center spot, I realized that my template would not fit between the 
brackets, so I'd have to measure it out by hand.  I measured and marked with the new ruler.  
I don't know what inspired me to check the measurement against the handle, but I'm so glad 
I did!  On this new ruler, the holes were too far apart!  I put the new ruler against the 
yardstick I'd been using, and the measurements didn't match up at all!!!
Turns out the 3" pulls were 3" on the center after all!  I think that yardstick may be strictly a 
straight-edge after this.
At least I got the project done with only a few minor disasters.  :)
