LOCKED AWAY

Shouldn’t have locked me away
Locked me away for such a long time,
Shouldn’t have tied me down
Tied me down for such a long time.
No one to talk to bur the voices in my head,
Anger and pain fermenting in my chest.
Forced to decide all on my own
What did you expect, a son made of gold?

Listened to the voices talking in my head
Denied the God you to me fed
Decided to my own destiny shape
Discover all I’d missed while locked away
Find what life ahead of me lay.

Read the books, heard what the music said
Tried the drugs and drank my share of booze
Slept with sluts, chaos ruled.
But deep down inside locked away I stayed.

Tried to escape the criticizing eye
Constantly watching in the back of my head.
Won’t you ever let me free
Of this needless guilt always torturing me?
A good person I truly am.
Can you not see or do you not care?
Please free me from this plague of misery.
