TheBanyanTree: Night visitors

We are expecting two kinds of visitors this week.  One: we shop and clean and 
put out the good dishes and polish the wine glasses.  Old friends, coming out 
to visit and dine; the house is finally respectable from moving in and major 
renovations. They aren't the couple to care if there's dust on the top of the 
doorways or yesterday's newspaper on the coffee table. Yet, we want the place 
looking special. We want the occasion to be a renewal of important 
friendships. I even  clean and wash ALL the birds' cages and dishes, and that's six cages 
for nine birds.
The other visitor. Oh, yes. Katarina. She made the morning headlines: 
"Katarina expected by midnight."  For Katarina I board up the windows and buy up a 
new stock of bottled water and foods that don't need cooking.  I bought a 
generator and will spend the afternoon setting it up . . . just in case she comes to 
our house.
