ODE to the Box Elder Bug by LaRose Karr

I'd like to make a pie

out of box elder squash

They are cute

crawling everywhere

across the floor,

over the door,

under the table

maybe even

wannabee in my navel.

I even saw one 

come out of the printer

riding a paper yesterday.

He was just along

for the ride.

I'm no poet

so give me a hug...

I do like the

crunchy sound

and feel when I 

squash a box elder bug.
